We chatted with Town boss Marcus Bignot after today's reserves game at Rotherham. Bignot was pleased to get to see Sean McAllister back in action and says he could feature in his plans ahead of Saturday's visit of Exeter City.

He said: "What was pleasing was that we got Sean McAllister back and he got some  much needed minutes. He brought a technical ability to a possession based game. He keeps the ball well which is going to help us. Hopefully he'll get no reaction to this and be in contention for the squad on Saturday."

And the Town boss says he was impressed by the five trialists on show at the Miller's training ground and he says that he wants to have a further look at the quintet. Biggleswade United striker Inih Effion, Redditch United defenders Jordaan Brown, Jordan Cullinane-Liburd and Jhai Dillon, plus Swiss player Luis Miguel De Sousa were all handed run-outs by Bignot.

Bignot added: "Recruitment is really important and relationships with other clubs is really important. I'd just like to go on record and credit all those football clubs who have given permission for their players to come and join us. They understand the opportunity for non league players to become professional footballers. These football clubs that we have been dealing with haven't stood in the player's way.

"We want the opportunity to look at them again. We want to build a development structure, and a recruitment structure, which is already beginning and you've seen signs of that today."

Asked about his bid to sign players in the January transfer window, he said: "It's always ongoing. We are certainly close to drawing a conclusion."
