THE Mariners have signed former Manchester United trainee Ritchie Jones on a month to month contract and are now awaiting International Clearance for the player.

The midfielder, who can also play at full-back, started at the United Youth system from the age of nine and went on to play five times for the first team.

After being released by his home town club he went on to play for Hartlepool United, Oldham Athletic, Bradford City and Rochdale.

The 27 year old has spent the last week on trial with the Mariners and impressed during Monday’s friendly game at Scunthorpe United.

Although Ritchie is a free agent, he has played in the USA for MLS outfit San Jose Earthquakes and the club need to get clearance for him to play at Town. He will not be eligible to play in today's Skrill Premier game against Braintree.
