WE are delighted to announce that Josh Venney has signed a new one year deal with the Mariners.
The 19 year old came through the Grimsby Town academy, where he impressed boss Paul Hurst and earned a professional contract at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.
"Being offered another year was brilliant for me, even better now we are in the Football League", Venney said. "Hopefully next year we can push on and do well in League Two".
Despite finding appearances hard to come by this year, the young midfielder was given his opportunity in a number of games as a substitute, including a Man of the Match performance in the FA Trophy vs. Solihull Moors. "Obviously the aim for me is to get more appearances than last year", said Venney. "The competition for a place in the team will be higher this year because of moving into the Football League".
With his future secured, Josh is now looking forward to his first season in the Football League and ready to make an impact. He went on to say "I just want to keep fit, work hard in pre-season and see what happens!".
Josh joins skipper, Craig Disley as the second first team player to commit their immediate future to Grimsby Town for the 2016/17 season.
