JAKE Storr has been named Grimsby Town Football in the Community Achiever of the Year for 2008.

The avid Portsmouth fan received a Pompey shirt signed by his favourite player, Kanu, from manager Mike Newell, Rob Atkinson and Phil Barnes recently.

Football in the Community manager Graham Rodger said Jake's level of participation was an "inspiration".

Jake's mum Tina added: "Jake loves football so much and being able to go to Grimsby Town gives him the opportunity to have a go and get stuck in, the same as other children.

"The staff are very supportive of Jake and encourage him to have a go, despite his difficulties.

"Jake struggles at times to get enjoyment from sport but Grimsby Town make this possible for him."
