PETER Sweeney becomes the second player to leave Blundell Park in two days after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

He follows Paul Linwood out of the building after he left for Fleetwood Town yesterday.

Sweeney joined the Mariners after a loan spell from Leeds last summer and made 43 appearances, scoring six goals during the 2009/ 2010 campaign.

But he was one of seven who were told they could look for new clubs after the Mariners' relegation from the Football League.

Sweeney has now signed a 2-year deal at League 2 side Bury.
