THE Mariners fought out a goaless draw at Gainsborough Trinity tonight, but Neil Woods' side had enough chances to win the game.
Steven Watt was named in the Town starting line-up alongside Darran Kempson. The other two trialists, Samuels and Dyer, were named amongst the Town subs - neither were introduced..
Former Town keeper Phil Barnes was in goal for Trinity, but Wes Parker and James Hunt have left Northolme for pastures new.
Town looked solid at the back and Peacock and Connell looked dangerous going forward. Peacock's saw a curling first half free kick brilliantly saved by Phil Barnes, and Connell looked to have given the Mariners the lead in the second half but his effort hit the post with Barnes beaten. Minutes after Connell's effort it was Peacock's turn to rattle the woodwork.
Lewis Gobern, who had looked impressive down the Town right, limped off just before half-time, nursing his thigh.
Waterfall had Trinity's best chance, finding himself unmarked, he somehow fired over from ten yards.
