Russell Slade says that it was massive result for Town today - with a patched up side.
He said: "After losing two consecutive games for the first time this season it was a massive result for us, and I was particularly pleased to keep a clean sheet with a makeshift defence."
And the Town boss admits that all the tactical plans went out of the window when Rob Jones limped out of training on Friday.
"We've worked all week on playing a particular way, and then with ten minutes left, Rob Jones limped out - that caused us massive headaches. We then had to patch the back four up, a right winger at right back, a left-back at centre-half, and I thought that we'd go strong in midfield and I thought we'd go strong up front. I thought we'd take the game to Notts County.
Slade says that Michael Reddy showed his value today.
"He's confident and when he gets in those positions he normally scores. That's his 12th of the season and providing he keeps scoring like that the we are going to be in good fettle. "
But Slade has confirmed that Paul Bolland and Ben Futcher will miss next Saturday's League 2 clash against Boston.
"We needed to take Paul off today because he had cramp in both calves. Unfortunately we've got quite a few players on four bookings and Bolly is one of them, so we will miss him against Boston."
In closing, the Mariners' boss praised the 1,227 fans who mad the journey from Grimsby today.
"I've always said about our fans away from home. They have been magnificent from day one, the numbers were tremendous away from home. To have 1200 travelling fans is superb. They got right behind our side and kept the side going. If they keep coming out in those numbers it can only help us."
Notts County boss Gudjon Thordarson admitted his side were just not good enough on the day.
He said: "If you look at us over the whole 90 minutes we simply weren't good enough. We had more than 20 crosses in the second half.
"That's an indication of how we raised our game but there wasn't a single save of consequence from either goalkeeper in the course of the game.
He added: "We threw everything at them but it wasn't meant to be. We didn't have the cutting edge to win us the game."
