After much transfer speculation and after the Mariners turned down a bid from Peterborough, the highly rated young defender penned a new four-year-contract during the summer of 2009.
Much is expected from young defender Ryan Bennett, who was promoted to the first team squad at the end of the 2006/ 2007 Season and has never looked back.
Ryan capped last season with a call up to the England Under 18s side and made his full debut against Austria in April 2008.
He cleaned up at last season's Player of the Year event - including being awarded the coveted Player of the Year award.
Joined the Mariners from Ipswich Town. The first-year YT impressed all season with his displays at centre half for the Youth and Reserve sides. Ryan is a talented player, who is strong in the air, and likes the ball to feet. He is calm under pressure and is a good leader on the field.
