Grimsby Town manager Russell Slade says his players are looking forward to tonight's friendly away at Bideford AFC.
The Mariners play their first of two friendly fixtures over the course of their five-day stay in Devon tonight, and the Town boss says the players are excited to get some more minutes under their belts.
Speaking on iFollow after the team's training session this morning, he said: “It's [about] attitude when you're playing teams that are not in the League.
“We're making sure we've got a good, positive mental attitude and we approach it the right way, as we have done in all the pre-season games – the lads have put in some professional performances.
“We'll approach it like we approach any game in the league.
“It was a long journey for some of the lads yesterday. They've had their rest, and we've fed them, and having got that training session under our belts today, we'll be looking forward to the game tonight.
“It's all about preparation and the physical work, and slowly but surely putting that technical element and philosophy together, as we did against Barnsley.
“We've trained again, and some have trained more heavy than others because they're maybe not getting the minutes that others are getting.”
Slade went on to give a special mention to the Town fans who are travelling down to Devon for tonight's friendly.
“Fantastic loyalty, coming all the way down, it's a long trip! But it's their team and they want to see the team evolve, and that's what we're attempting to do.
“They may see one or two new players on show tonight, so that's something for them to look forward to, and hopefully they'll see some good performances from their players,” he said.
The gaffer also praised new signing Harry Cardwell.
He said: “Harry's a talented player, he's already shown that. He's scored goals, and he's getting better every single day with our help.
“He's 20, like Dembele and Ben [Killip], and I think it adds balance to the group – some younger ones that we know have got improvement in them going forward, and they're talented.”
Tonight's game kicks off at 7.30pm and you can follow the action on our Live Blog.
