Russell Slade is expecting to add at least one new face to his squad ahead of the visit of Wigan Athletic on Saturday (3pm).  The Town boss has made no secret of the fact that he is looking to bring in a left-sided defender and a striker ahead of the big kick-off on August 5.

On the injury front, Jamey Osborne, as we announced this morning, is going to be sidelined at least until Christmas with knee ligament injury,  Akwasi Asante is still recovering from surgery and he won't be available to the Town boss until September at the earliest.

Sean McAllister is also struggling to be fit to face the Latics. The midfielder picked up a knock in pre season but is on the mend.

Russell Slade is again set to utilise his full first team squad on Saturday .

Admission to this final pre season friendly game is £10 - Adults and £5 - Concessions. Tickets are available Online, from the Blundell Park Ticket Office, or payment can be made at the turnstiles.

Tom gets brought down for a penalty

Grimsby Town 1-1 Wigan Athletic

Ben Davies' late penalty earned the Mariners a share of the spoils against League One side Wigan Athletic this afternoon.

The Mariners had trailed to Callum Lang's sixth minute goal. After a hopeful ball over the top found Gavin Masey, who looked offside, but with the official's flag staying down, the Latics winger squared the ball to Lang to tap home.

Siriki Dembele and Tom Bolarinwa had terrorised the Wigan defence all afternoon, but just minutes before the end, James McKeown's long clearance found Tom who ran at his man before being brought down in the box.

Up stepped Ben Davies to calmly place the ball just inside the keeper's left-hand post, giving Town a deserved share of the spoils.

The only downside for the Mariners was seeing James Berrett leave the field in the first half after taking a knock in the face. Russell Slade has since confirmed that the midfielder needed a couple of stitches but is okay.

Paul Dixon, wo signed for the Mariners ahead of the game, got a piece of the action afterhe replaced Zak Mills on 71 minutes.

TOWN: McKeown; Mills (Dixon 71), Clarke, Collins (K Osborne 71), Davies; Dembele (Bridge 57), M Rose (Sawyer 90), Berrett (Summerfield 30), Kelly (Bolarinwa 71); Jones (Wright 82), Vernon (Cardwell 57).
