Belgium Defender Set For Rangers Run-Out

Town boss Russell Slade will run the rule over a Belgium left-back tonight.

Town boss Russell Slade will use tonight's friendly at Winterton Rangers to look at Belgium left-back, Willem Appiah.

The 23-year old has represented his country at Under 16,17 and 18 levels and was with Belgium side  Roda JC Kerkrade last season.

The Mariners will send a mixed squad of first-teamers, trialists and youth players to West Street (7.30pm).

Latest recruit Karleigh Osborne is expected to make his full Town debut against Rangers.

The postcode for Winterton Rangers' ground is DN15 9QF on West Street, Winterton.

Admission will cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, with all admission via pay on the gate. There will be a cafe open for refreshments before, throughout and after the fixture. 

Town will play in their black and white home kit, with Winterton Rangers wearing their royal blue kit.

Scorers: Rollins 13, 28, Roberts 35, 74, Summerfield 55, Wright 77, Pollock 82.

Two goals by trialist Jay Rollins helped to ease the Mariners past Northern Counties League Side Winterton Rangers tonight.

Rollins got Town's first and second goals after a bit of a shakey start, before Jamil Roberts headed in a third.

Luke Summerfield, Roberts, Max  and another trialist, Pollock, completed the scoring in the second half.

The Mariners had named no less than four trialists in the starting Xl - including Belgian full-back Willem Appiah, who we named this morning. 

Grimsby Town starting XI: Ben Killip; Max Wright, Karleigh Osborne, Jack Keeble, Willem Appiah; Jay Rollins, Pollock, Chris Clements, Luke Summerfield, Jamil Roberts; Tom Bolarinwa. 

League One side Wigan Athletic are the visitors to Blundell Park on Saturday (3pm) in the final warm-up game.
