📝“The Boys Are In Good Spirits, Good Shape” - Jolley

Firstly the Town boss confirmed that there are no new injury worries ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash at Exeter.

The Town boss says that Matt Green’s confidence could be boosted after that fantastic strike at Chelsea on Wednesday night.

He said:” Absolutely. You score a goal like that, wherever it is, you’re going to feel good about yourself. To do that on such a stage as Stamford Bridge, it was tremendous,  and there was great celebrations with the supporters. Brilliant for Greeny and long may that continue.”

And now the Mariners face a big challenge of playing two long-haul away games in a matter of days.

“It is a big challenge, Jolley said. Clearly the geography of being down in London and going all the way to Exeter means we have got to get the organisation right - when to train and so on. The boys are in good spirits, in good shape, and we are looking forward to the game on Saturday.”

📝Match Report: Exeter City 1-3 Grimsby Town

Magnificent Mariners end The Grecians run.

Ethan Robson celebrates

A much-changed Town team had a comfortable victory at table-toppers Exeter City this afternoon.

The Mariners took the lead in spectacular fashion when Ethan Robson fired home from the edge of the box following a corner.

And the visitors doubled their lead soon after the break when Max Wright was upended in the box. Moses Ogbu stepped up, and fired beyond the reach of the City keeper before celebrating with his now customary somersault.

The 261 travelling Town fans were in dreamland when Robson added his second and Town’s third on 67 minutes.

And with 2 minutes of added-on time remaining, City got a consolation goal from Ryan Bowman.

Michael Jolly made six changes from Wednesday evening’s Carabao Cup tie at Chelsea, with Hewitt, Davis, Hanson, Whitehouse and Green reverting to the bench.

In came Luke Waterfall, Ethan Robson, Jordan Cook, Moses Ogbu, Ahkeem Rose and Max Wright, while Mattie Pollock (Birthday boy) made his first league start as he retained his place from Chelsea.

The Mariners are next in action on Saturday when Mansfield Town visit Cleethorpes.
