Neil Woods’s Grimsby Town youth team look to make it four games unbeaten in EFL North East Youth Alliance as they travel to Notts County on Saturday (11am).
The young Mariners have lost just one of their previous six matches in all competitions – a 2-1 defeat to high-flying North West Youth Alliance side Fleetwood Town in the Youth Alliance Cup quarter-finals.
Town made it three league games unbeaten last time out as they beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 at Cheapside.
And they will be hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches as they face fifth-place Notts County this weekend.
The Magpies are currently on 16 points from their opening 13 matches – two points ahead of eighth-place Town, who have a game in hand.
Notts have won just one of their previous seven matches in all competitions – a 5-1 away win over Huddersfield in November.
The Magpies have lost their previous three league games – 2-1 at home to Mansfield Town, 2-0 at Lincoln City, and 2-0 at Burton Albion last time out.
And they will be hoping to do the league double over Town this weekend, after they beat the Mariners 4-1 at Cheapside back in October.
After this weekend’s fixture with Notts County, Town are away at Rotherham United on Saturday, February 8 (11am).
