Robbie Set For Black Cats

29 August 2012

YOUTH team coach Robbie Stockdale is set to leave the club and take up a similar position at Premiership side Sunderland.

The former Scottish International defender was named Grimsby Town's Head of Youth in the 2010 close season, taking over the mantle from interim Youth Team Manager Adam Smith.

As the Mariners continue to strive to meet the rigours of the Premier League Elite player performance plan, the club will be looking to appoint a suitable replacement for Robbie in due course.

Sunderland had approached the club some time ago and asked if they could speak to the Town coach. They have been totally professional throughout their negotiations with Grimsby Town Football Club and with Robbie Stockdale.

As part of the deal, Sunderland have kindly agreed to send their first team squad for a pre-season friendly game next summer.

We would like to thank Robbie and wish him all the best for the future.
