Full Time: : Grimsby Town 0 Hull City 0
THE Mariners fought out a goaless draw against Championship side Hull City tonight.
Town deserved their share of the spoils and played some good passing football.
Greg Pearson and Andy Cook came in for Anthony Elding and Liam Hearn, who missed the game with a tight calf, while trialist Greg Fleming started the game with McKeown amongst the substitutes.
Town got off to a good start as Andy Cook broke through the Tigers defence but his volley was straight at the keeper.
Hull responded when skipper Koren’s shot flashed past Fleming's left hand post from 20 yards.
And it was Cook again who caused the visitors problems, this time his powerful header was smartly saved.
But it was City who nearly broke the deadlock just before half-time, when Koren fired another 20-yard drive that had Fleming beaten in the Town goal. However, the ball rattled off the crossbar.
Colbeck had a great chance to put the Mariners ahead, but he miscued from12 yards and the chance was lost.
The Mariners could have snatched it at the death after a mad scramble in the Tiger’s box.
The Mariners can be pleased with their performance as they travel to League One side Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.
