Youth Team Introduction
Robbie Stockdale - Head of Youth
Born: Redcar D.O.B: 30.11.79
Scottish International defender Robbie Stockdale was named Grimsby Town's Head of Youth in the 2010 close season, taking over the mantle from interim Youth Team Manager Adam Smith.
Stockdale inherits a successful side at Blundell Park, the young Mariners having won the Football League Alliance Youth Cup and Midland Floodlit Youth Cup in successful seasons.
The job is Stockdale's first foray into coaching but the 30-year-old brings with him a wealth of experience, beginning at Premier League Middlesbrough in the mid-90s, where he was fortunate enough to play alongside such world-renowned talents as Juninho, Alen Boksic and Paul Gascoigne. A right back by trade, Stockdale also enjoyed successful playing spells with West Ham, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull, Rotherham and Tranmere before arriving at Blundell Park in the summer of 2008.
Robbie has proven to be a tremendously consistent performer for the Mariners but has seen his time in Cleethorpes hampered by a series of niggling injuries. Stockdale will be hoping that his tremendous knowledge of the game rubs off on the club's next batch of youngsters and that he can continue their record of success and bringing players through the ranks into the first team at Blundell Park.
