Reserves Fall To Late Goal

Gateshead 1 Grimsby Town 0

OUR Reserves side kicked off their Central League campaign with a defeat at Gateshead tonight.

Gateshead had the better of the chances and the Mariners had to thank Greg Fleming for a couple of classy saves.  But, despite a battling display, Town were undone by a late goal. 

Rob Scott and Paul Hurst will be concerned by injuries to Simon Ford and Andi Thanoj. Ford took a knock to the head and was substituted during the first half and Thanoj was also replaced after taking a kick on his ankle.  

The Mariners included five senior players in the starting Xl. The team were taken by Youth team coach Adam Smith and Steve Croudson.
