TOWN join boss Rob Scott said that he wasn’t his side’s best performance at Barrow tonight and he was pleased to come away with a point in the end.
He said: “Pleased obviously to get a point. It was a pretty poor performance really.
“We’ve just spoken about it there, we looked pretty jaded in the first half, looked to be a yard short at times.
“I don’t want to make too many excuses because that’s not the way we do things. I have to say that they put in a great shift on Saturday away at Hereford - in tough conditions, in the heat. Then we’ve got another long journey here tonight. Maybe that just took a little bit out of the tank of a few players.
“I’m certainly relieved to get a point out of a game that at one point looked like we were going to get nothing.”
And Rob commented on Anthony Elding’s two goal performance.
“It’s been well documented with Anthony wanting to go, but we know he’s an asset and we weren’t prepared to just let him walk away. Tonight he’s shown the sort of player he can be. Great finish from the penalty - no keeper is stopping that. His first goal he is in the right areas.
“We were a long way short from where we needed to be tonight and I’m pleased to come away with a point,” he added.
