This Sunday sees at Blundell Park, the annual charity matches to raise funds for ‘St Andrew’s Hospice’ and ‘Women’s Aid’ arranged by local Sunday League teams, SW Steelers & AA Properties New Waltham. The fundraising day is to commemorate local league footballers/managers, Pete Smith, Ian Ashworth & Greg Kavanagh who played for the 2 local teams mentioned and are sadly no longer with us.
The Upper Findus (McMenemys) opens at 11am and the first game – ‘Ashy’s Masters v Humberside Airport’ which kicks off at 11.30am, seeing Ian Ashworth’s former (now fat and unfit) team mates take on a Humberside Airport ‘select 11’.
The Main Event – (Sunday League Division 1 team) SW Steelers FC take on (Sunday League Division 6) AA Properties New Waltham, kicks off at 2pm.
Admission is £3 for adults & accompanying children free.
The event has now raised over £6000 for local charities over the last few years and looks to raise over £1000 for the two worthy causes.
