This has been Grimsby Town Sport and Education Trusts first year involved with the Futsal Scholarship. The scholarship involves our learners playing Futsal games every two weeks against other league clubs at a central venue based at Elland Road, Leeds. The learners are enrolled in a BTEC Level 3 in Sport which runs alongside the practical futsal side to the project, all based here at Blundell Park.

The Trust are currently recruiting for the 2013/14 cohort, for more information visit www.gtset.co.uk. With this being our first year involved in the project the players have made good progress both practically and academically, with Jack Burrows and Danny Marshall progressing into the regional stage of The FA Futsal Centre of Excellence programme. This player of the year award has taken into account both our players practical progress but more importantly their academic progress. Based on the above criteria this years Grimsby Town Sport and Education Trust Player of the Year 2013 is Tom Watters.
