The club are saddened to hear of the death of Dorothy Hopper.
Dorothy has been a landlady for a number of years and looked after some of Town’s youth players during that time – including Norwich City defender Ryan Bennett.
Ryan was very fond of Dorothy and always mentioned how much she looked after during his time at her house. After hearing of Dorothy’s passing he commented on Twitter: “There will be a star shining bright tonight! Most inspirational lady I lived with for 2 years and done so, so much for me and many other lads.
“At Grimsby Town! Made my youth team days so easy and was like a mum to me, even to my sons like a grandma! Love you Dorothy rip.”
Our thoughts are with Dorothy’s family at this sad time.
