Pyrotechnic Awareness Campaign

29 April 2014

FOLLOWING a number of pyrotechnic discharge incidents at away fixtures, we feel that it’s important to remind all supporters of the dangers of pyrotechnic devices ahead of our playoff fixture against Gateshead. Your club can and is held accountable by the Football Association for any discharge of a pyrotechnic device by our supporters regardless of the venue.

Any pyrotechnic device brought into stadia whether discharged or not is in direct contradiction to Football Ground Regulations and is illegal. Any supporter found with any sort of pyrotechnic device will be subject to the Football Association’s recommended actions, these are but not limited to the following:

1. Any supporter found with a pyrotechnic device must be detained and arrested by the local Police Force.

2.Any supporter found with a pyrotechnic device will be subject to an instant club ban.

3. Any supporter found with a pyrotechnic device as per recommendations will be subject to a minimum of a 3 year court enforced Football Banning Order and court imposed fine.

The following link highlights the dangers that these devices pose to supporters health, including smoke bombs which many supporters are under the false impression are safe:

We simply ask that you respect your club by not bringing these devices to matches especially at away fixtures and that you respect the health and wellbeing of your fellow supporters.
