Aldershot Town 2-1 Grimsby Town

30 August 2014

SCOTT Neilson’s fourth goal of the season was not enough to stop 10-man Grimsby Town slipping to their first defeat of the campaign at Aldershot Town.

Brett Williams struck twice for the home side to secure the points despite a good display from the Mariners, who lost Lenell John-Lewis for two bookable offences in the first half.

Town had created the better chances before the sending off and got to half-time with the game goalless but they found themselves with a tough task after going 2-0 down to goals either side of the hour mark.

Neilson pulled one back for Grimsby with a 25-yard strike and although they kept pushing for an equaliser, the Mariners were unable to find it and saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end.
