Gainsborough Trinity 1 v 3 Grimsby Town

2 August 2014

Final Score: Gainsborough Trinity 1 - 3 Grimsby Town

Lincolnshire Cup Semi Final.

The Mariners will face Lincoln City in the final of the Lincolnshire County Cup after a 3-1 victory at Gainsborough Trinity this afternoon.

Nathan Arnold was named up front for today's Lincolnshire Senior Cup semi-final at Northolme.

The season-long loanee was handed the striker role alongside Lenell John-Lewis.

Elsewhere, there were starts for Paul Walker, Carl Magnay and assistant manager Chris Doig.

The Mariners fell behind on 22 minutes after Simon Russell converted from the penalty spot after Carl Magnay had handled in the box.

After some intense pressure on the Trnity goal, substitute Jon-Paul Pitman drew the Mariners level after the home side failed to clear a corner. Lenell John Lewis had earlier gone close with a header and the Trinity keeper had done well to keep Nathan Arnold at bay.

But with the game heading for penalties, Ross Hannah popped up to give the Mariners the lead and soon added his second and Town's third goal.

Town: McKeown, Walker, Doig, Magnay, Thomas, Disley, Clay, McLaughlin, Mackreth, Arnold, John-Lewis.

Subs: Humble, Winfarrah, Bignot, Pittman, Hannah.

A date for the final against the Imps has yet to be arranged.
