It’s been a whirlwind 48 hours for our ‘Grimsby Town’s Christmas Message 2014’ video after featuring on the websites of almost every major national newspaper this weekend.
Since the John-Lewis parody was launched on our official YouTube channel during the Forest Green Rovers game on Friday night, the video have been viewed over 27,000 times; receiving acclaim on social media from football supporters in general, as well as a number of top stand-up comedians.
‘I’m a Celebrity’ presenter Rob Beckett and panel show regular Romesh Ranganathan were quick to praise the video on Twitter, along with the brilliant performance of Lloyd Griffith; the Grimsby-born comedian behind the viral hit.
The Daily Mail were first to lead with the story about the quirky video, soon followed by The Independent, The Sun and The Mirror – with the latter describing the parody as being “possibly the greatest Christmas video football has ever seen.”
