FORMER Town player Dave Boylen has agreed to become the club's first Honorary Ambassador.
Boylen (67) made 425 appearances for The Mariners during a career at Blundell Park which spanned both the 1960s and 70s.
The former midfield dynamo has now officially been granted the ‘freedom of the club’, allowing him to carry on the good work in an official capacity around Blundell Park and the town.
Speaking of the move, Grimsby Town director John Fenty said: "Basically he's been given the key of the door.
"Dave already does some fantastic work for us, promoting the club in the community. We've now made his role official."
