GRIMSBY MP Austin Mitchell is lending his support to the club's proposed move to a new stadium on Peaks Parkway.
Austin says that he thinks that the development should go ahead and it is something that North East Lincolnshire Council should support.
Speaking at a press conference at Blundell Park, Austin said: “I've watched the travails of the club over a long period.
“It's been a long and difficult struggle to get it and I've watched John (Fenty) over the years being rebuffed.
“I think the difficulties can straightforwardly be removed.
"The arguments about traffic congestion with people going to and from funerals and the traffic for Oasis Academy Wintringham can be overcome. It would be like uncorking the bottle if there was a roundabout that would enable people to get in and out easily."
“The arguments that have been put to me as MP about traffic congestion. If you've ever been to a funeral or attended Wintringham School, you will know that there are huge traffic jams there. I think that can be obviated.
“I'm happy. At last there is a potential for a development that can go ahead and should go ahead, and the council should support.”
