IT is 30 years to the day since John Tondeur started commentating on the Mariners. The former school teacher began covering Town during Dave Booth's management reign, but he had done some work for Radio Humberside prior to taking over on the mic.
Eighteen different managers have been and gone during JT's time covering Town.
And his BBC Radio Humberside colleague, Dave Burns, says that John is part of the fabric of the club.
He said: "I think he’s done a fantastic job for BBC Radio Humberside and the fans of Grimsby Town. Unlike some, (looks in mirror), he’s always been measured, balanced and fair (apart from his referee-bashing). He’s got an innate sense and understanding of football and the Mariners. You know if JT tells you it, then you know it’s true.
"For many people he’s kept Grimsby Town alive in the hearts and heads.
"I consider it a privilege to have worked alongside him. He’s part of the fabric of Blundell Park and Grimsby."
John will be sat in his usual seat covering today's game against Wrexham, alongside former Town manager Alan Buckley.
Here's to another 30 years JT . .
