JOHN Fenty and the Grimsby Town board met with Paul Hurst on Wednesday to discuss a number of issues following the disappointment of missing out on a trip to Wembley and a potential return to the Football League.
Speaking after the meeting, John Fenty told gtfc.co.uk: “Basically it was to look at the season that has just gone - what worked and what didn't work and how we can become stronger for next season.
“We are naturally all disappointed about missing out on a trip to Wembley and a potential return to the Football League.
“When all is said and done, in the cold light of day, it is accepted that we have had a good season. It is the second season that we have been in the play-offs and we certainly have something to build on.
“As I said, we talked about what worked and what didn’t work and we set out a number of clear objectives, ultimately resulting in us doing better than we have done over the last few seasons. “
In terms of player retention’s, we are quite clear on what Paul has got in his mind and he will be working on that in the very near future. Regarding player targets, we are enthused that Paul has got the contacts and the ability to strengthen the squad.”
John continued: “We are looking forward to working together during the close season. All in all, things were very, very positive and we are looking forward to the new season.
“Time is a healer and we can hopefully put Sunday’s disappointment behind us and get behind the club, the manager, the team, and the parts of the new team.”
