TOWN boss Paul Hurst brings us his first summer weekly update. This week Paul talks about the re-signing of Craig Disley, Scott Neilson's contract offer, the departure of Alex Rodman, and the search for new players.
He was one of the first signings when we joined the club. He’s captained the side and he was pretty much ever-present this season.
Obviously his goals were a major factor this season after he got nine last season as well. He’s got that experience that I think every team needs. He’s scored some important goals in some big games for us and is an excellent professional.
I’m delighted that he’s agreed to sign and I know that there was interest from elsewhere. It shows his commitment to the football club.
We’ve made an offer to Scott and we obviously hope that will be a positive,
We ended on a bit of a sad note this season. He’s shown what a good player he is and he gives the crowd a lift. When he picks the ball up there is a bit of a buzz around the place and he can make things happen.
Disappointed to see him go because, certainly the last couple of months, he was our best player. He scored some crucial goals and I think there was more to come from Alex.
Ultimately he has been made a very good offer elsewhere and I wish him all the best. He is certainly another one who I have enjoyed working with. Out relationship grew stronger as the season progressed.
The Search for Players
There’s a lot of research, speaking to agents, to players going on at the moment. I think that there are too many players that are instantly going to commit to something. It’s back to the old line of showing patience . Some players have signed at clubs – that’s probably personal circumstance, in terms of location. I will be patient but I am confident that I will bring good players into the football club.
Keep in touch with the news from your club. We will have another update from Paul next week.
