THE self proclaimed “fastest player over a yard” in football history will be our special guest for a speaker evening in November.
Mick Quinn, who scored 228 goals in 515 Football League appearances, was one of the most colourful characters in football.
“Quinny” played for Wigan, Stockport, Oldham, Portsmouth, Newcastle United and Coventry City. He is considered a Club Legend by the supporters of the latter three.
He was the Football League’s top scorer in the 1989-1990 season when he bagged 34 league goals for Newcastle United, 4 of them coming on his debut against Leeds United. He finished that season with 39 goals in all competitions.
After a disagreement with new Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan, Quinny then signed for Bobby Gould’s Coventry City in 1992. He scored a remarkable 17 Premier League goals in his first 6 Months at Coventry with 10 of them coming in his first 6 games!
The prolific goalscorer turned to Horse Racing after retirement and is now one of the most respected trainers in the business with stables at Newmarket and Suffolk.
His larger than life character is now familiar to millions every weekend as he wakes up the Nation on his Talksport Radio show, discussing all things Football.
Micky will be supported by a top funny man.
The event takes place in McMenemys on Friday 14th November and a 3 course meal is included.
It promises to be a great night, not to be missed.
