Everest Mission - Update

18 October 2014

THE club would like to congratulate PC Jason McCusker and crime team office manager Andy Thorpe, who this week reached the Mount Everest ‘base camp’ after a grueling three-week trek.

PC McCusker, who is being sponsored by the Town players and management,  has raised almost £3,000 for St Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby in honour of Rio Jacombe, a two-year-old currently receiving palliative care at the hospice.

The two police personnel from Grimsby are safe and well despite being caught up in a “dreadful storm” on Mount Everest which is thought to have claimed the lives of at least 26 trekkers and three farmers.

"It was difficult, arduous, exhausting and the most physically demanding thing I have ever done," Jason told the club's website.

"It was difficult to breathe in the thin air and lack of oxygen It was minus - 10 deg C at Base camp and dangerous place to get to over the Khumbu ice glacier."

We would like to wish the pair well on the rest of their journey.
