Grimsby Town Head of Youth, Stuart Watkiss has decided to leave the club to take up an exciting opportunity in the new Indian ‘I-League’.
“The chance to go to India and set a club up from scratch – It's a great project and one I’m looking forward to being involved with.” said the former Mansfield Town and Kidderminster Harriers boss.
Watkiss rejoined the Mariners last season, replacing the outgoing head of youth Adam Smith and helped the Youth Team to a string of fine results towards the end of their Youth Alliance campaign.
The former Assistant Manager to Alan Buckley, during his third spell at Blundell Park, played a key role in the development of a number of young players including first year professionals Caine Winfarrah, Paul Walker and Ellis Humble.
Academy Manager Alan Lamb will take over the role left by Watkiss’ departure. The club would like to thank ‘Skip’ for all his hard work for the club and wish him all the best for the future.
