Town’s Youth Team picked up another victory with a 2-0 success over Notts County on Saturday morning at Cheapside.
Two goals from Lewis Bemrose settled the Football League Youth Alliance clash, with Alan Lamb’s now on a run of seven wins in their last nine games.
The first half was a fairly quiet affair for the most part, with Town finishing and ending the half on top but Notts County having their fair share of possession in between without creating anything of note.
On the stroke of half time, the Mariners took the lead when a good passing move saw Clifton find Bemrose on the edge of the box and he shifted the ball onto his left foot before striking the ball sweetly past the County goalkeeper and into the net.
It was a dominant display from Town in the second half and they doubled their lead on the hour mark when Clifton floated in a free kick and Lewis Bemrose was at the far post to poke the ball home and double the lead.
Bemrose was denied his hat-trick when he had a goal disallowed for offside, whilst Reece York also hit the bar from around twenty yards out before the end of the game.
The YT’s will now round off their season with a local derby at home to Scunthorpe United on Saturday (11am kick-off).
