FOR this year’s Player of The Year night, we’re going to do something a little different.
On Monday 27th April Grimsby Town Football Club’s annual end of season celebration will take place at the Beachcomber in Cleethorpes. It will be the first time in over a decade that the awards evening with take place away from McMenemy’s at Blundell Park.
The club hope that supporters will bring the feel-good atmosphere from recent away games to the event by encouraging fans to don their black and white stripes and blow up their inflatables one more time. There might even be an award for the ‘Best Dress Supporter’ on the night if people decide to come in fancy dress.
The formal part of the evening will this year be presented by two Grimsby lads, comedian Lloyd Griffith and actor Tommy Turgoose. The home-grown talents have played significant roles in the “We Are Town” and John-Lewis parody online videos on social media and will certainly add their own unique style to this year’s celebrations. Also on the bill will be DJ Andy Carr, who people may already know as his match day alter ego, Mighty Mariner.
From tomorrow morning up to 1,000 tickets can be snapped up for the event from the Blundell Park office at £2 Adults and £1 Under 18’s. Remaining tickets will be made available on the door on Monday 27th April from 7pm.
Wheelchair access is available at the Beachcomber, so disabled supporters will have no problem attending the event.
