YOU can now pre-order the fantastic new Town song by Orphan Boy.
The single will be released digitally on Monday, 27 April, through Concrete Recordings for a limited four-week period with all sales proceeds to the GTFC Youth Team.
The much-loved four-piece have a longstanding relationship with the club and indeed with Grimsby’s finest comic Lloyd Griffith, having provided the soundtrack for the Mariners’ spoof John Lewis (his name is a shop) Christmas video which received plays of almost 80,000. The three parties will come together again for the single’s accompanying video.
Previous live appearances have seen the band play alongside The Enemy, Babyshambles and The Sunshine Underground and appearances at Glastonbury, the Secret Garden Party and Truck festivals. Now the lifelong Mariners supporters have accepted the request to play the GTFC Player of the Year Award Ceremony (see below) with honour.
Orphan Boy released their debut album, Shop Local, in April 2008 and this was followed by Passion, Pain & Loyalty in August 2010, both of which garnered enormous radio support from Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, Jim Gellatly, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens. Their third album Coastal Tones will be released on 25 May 2015. The album campaign has got off to a flying start with opening single Beats Like Distant Tides a firm favourite of esteemed DJ Janice Long and gaining BBC2, BBC 6 Music and XFM plays as well as rave reviews from high-readership publications including The Sun.
Orphan Boy are: Rob Cross (guitar / vocals), Paul Smith (bass), Sam Carlton (keyboards) and Chris Day (Drums).
