Referee Watch - Shrewsbury

6 December 2015

REFEREE Seb Stockbridge will officiate Town's televised FA Cup Second Round clash with Shrewsbury Town on Monday night.

Despite being a Football League referee, Stockbridge's name may still be a familiar one to the Mariners faithful, as he was promoted from National League level back in 2012 after impressing over two seasons at that standard.

The Newcastle born official has been the man in the middle for 14 games across League One, League Two, the League Cup and the Football League Trophy so far this season, handing out 48 yellow cards and three reds in the process. Last season, that was 90 yellow cards and 2 reds in 27 games.

His assistants for the game will be Joe Simpson and James Mainwaring, with Christopher Kavanagh taking the position of Fourth Official.

LAST TIME OUT

Stockbridge did take charge of several Town games during his spell as a National League official, with the last of those being a 1-1 draw with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in April 2013. Dayle Southwell gave the Mariners the lead that day before Alex Lawless equalised for the Hatters 14 minutes from time.

Amongst the games Stockbridge has also officiated involving Town are the 3-1 success over Lincoln in January 2012, as well as the 1-1 opening day draw with Southport and the 5-1 success over Woking in August and September of that year respectively.

He has officiated Monday's opponents Shrewsbury once this season, in their 3-2 defeat to Rochdale back in September.
