FOLLOWING discussions with the Mariners Trust, the club intend to turn a section of the Pontoon stand into a safe-standing area.
The top right corner of the Pontoon looks set to be dedicated to those supporters who prefer to stand at football matches.
Town's stadium manager, Nick Dale explained: “This move is in response to the effort that the young fans have made to try and improve the atmosphere inside Blundell Park of late.
“It’s also about trying to embrace modern ways of supporting football club’s and is us responding to a fans’ survey carried out by the Mariners Trust, which showed there is an overwhelming desire to see us return to some terraced areas.”
The issue of safe-standing was brought to the fore again last week, following the publication of a study by the Welsh Conservatives, which was backed by the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF).
The study found that supporters overwhelmingly back the introduction of designated standing areas at football grounds.
The club are now appealing for a local businesses to sponsor the installation of folding ‘rail seats’. If you think you can help please email firstname.lastname@example.org
