TOWN boss Paul Hurst is hoping to bring in a player very soon - but he is not expecting any  movement ahead of Saturday's Vanarama Conference clash with Barnet.

Speaking on Mariners Player, he said: "I thought we might be getting close to something yesterday, but, at this moment in time, it certainly isn't going to happen before the weekend. But there is a possibility that we might get a player in.

"We've agreed with the club, he was a little surprised that he would be allowed to leave, so it is now a case of the player getting his head around that and coming to a decision."

The Town boss wouldn't be drawn on the player' s position but did hint that he is currently at a League 2 club.

Scott Neilson is set to miss out once again with an ankle injury. The Town midfielder sustained the injury against Lincoln City at the end of December and has been struggling on and off with the problem.

Scott will have a fitness check on Friday but he is rated as doubtful for the visit of Martin Allen's side.

Paul Hurst also dispelled rumours that Aswad Thomas has left the club. Paul reaffirmed that the player has been given leave and confirmed that he will return to the club next week.
