ANDREW Newman has become Paul Hurst's latest signing after he pledged £2,500 to Operation Promotion.
Andrew, who came to fame with the Town banners at the WWE events in the USA, met up with his team-mates and Paul Hurst to pick up his shirt at the Cheapside training ground yesterday.
He signed a mock contract and will be given squad number 37 for the forthcoming season.
With 12 days to go, Budget Boost has raised over £65,000 – with a further £20,000 set to be added by Euromillions winner Lee Mullen and the Mariners Trust.
Andrew said: "I'm extremely proud to be a Grimsby Town fan and see what impact Budget Boost has made so far.
"As soon as I saw the shirt offer online, it took me just half-an-hour to decide.
"I didn't expect that we would raise £20,000 on the first day, and the whole thing has just surpassed wild expectations."
And Paul Hurst, who handed the number 37 shirt to his new man added: "He travels down from Scotland for all the Saturday home games, and gets to the away ones when he can.
"Andrew obviously travels and gets us some coverage in the States through wrestling – and it's another great gesture from him.
"It shows how much the club means to him, and how committed he is to supporting the team."
