Ollie's Dad Was Royal Bodyguard

11 March 2015

OLLIE Palmer's dad spent 20 years of his life as Prince Charles' personal bodyguard.

Palmer senior had started in the police before working his way up through the ranks in royalty protection.  He had looked after Prince Harry, Prince William and the Queen before being selected as personal protection officer to Prince Charles.

Speaking to gtfc.co.uk, Ollie said: "As I got older I started to appreciate the importance of his job.

"It's a bit different to what most people do. He travelled all over the world.

"I admired what he was doing and really looked up to him.

"Saying that, my job doesn't threaten my life and it's definitely taught me not to take life too seriously.

"My dad always says to me, "it's not what you do, it's what you may have to do." I think that is quite appropriate in life."

The Town loanee has met Prince Charles and his dad had a retirement bash at Clarence House.

"He came across as a gentleman and he was aware that I was a player."
