THE Mariners have completed the loan signing of Torquay midfielder Jordan Chapell until the end of the season.
Jordan came through the youth ranks with his hometown club, Sheffield United, debuting for the Blades in a Cup loss at Hartlepool in 2010.
The tricky winger progressed to the fringe of the first-team at Sheffield United and was sent out on loan to Burton in the autumn of 2012 to gain experience.
He later joined Torquay in a loan spell toward the end of last season and played his part in changing their poor run of form, as results improved to keep United in League 2.
Although he was recalled early when Sheffield United had a change of manager, Torquay boss Alan Knill kept tabs on Jordan and the youngster decided to make a permanent move to Plainmoor, despite originally agreeing a new deal with the Blades.
Jordan was said to be tremendous in the early stages of last season and ended up United’s top goalscorer, but a desire to return home to the north saw him placed on the transfer list. A strong pre-season, however, saw his return to Plainmoor.
