REFEREE Wayne Barratt will be the official when the Mariners when they head to Eastleigh on Saturday.
Born in Worcestershire, he has refereed at National League level since the 2007/08 season, first taking charge of the 1-1 draw between Stevenage and Woking in October 2007 and is also a regular part of the officiating team at Football League level.
He was involved in an interesting incident in October when a fan had to step in as Fourth Official after Barratt had to replace the injured James Adcock as the man in the middle during the game between Portsmouth and Newport County.
So far this season, he has handed out 18 yellow cards in nine games but is yet to send a player off, whilst he gave out 43 yellow cards and five reds in 17 games last campaign.
He be assisted by Paul Lister and Ollie Davies for the game, with Ben Cobb acting as Fourth Official.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite being a regular official at this level, it has been two seasons since Barratt last refereed Town. That game was the 1-0 defeat to FC Halifax in April 2014, where now Tranmere player Lois Maynard scored the only goal for the Shaymen at Blundell Park.
Barratt has also taken charge of the Mariners on a number of other occasions, including the infamous 5-0 defeat at Braintree Town in August 2011, as well as 3-0 victory over Gateshead at Blundell Park in September 2012.
