Forest Green Rovers’ boss Ady Pennock will have welcomed a midweek rest as his side look to recover from a run of four games without a win.
His side still head the table, but that’s due to Cheltenham Town suffering their first defeat in five last Saturday against Tranmere Rovers, who are now seven unbeaten themselves.
Gateshead now sandwich neighbours Forest Green and Cheltenham in second spot after their win at the New Lawn last Saturday, courtesy of Jimmy Phillips’ early goal.
Bromley, promoted as winners of the southern section, find themselves in fourth spot as Mark Goldberg’s side made it six gamesunbeaten with a comfortable 3-0 win against Chester FC at the weekend.
The Ravens overtook Wrexham in the table after Gary Mills’ side were victims of managerless Eastleigh, whose run of five matches without a win led to the departure of manager Richard Hill last week.
However, teams under caretaker leadership, in this case assistant boss Chris Todd, are often dangerous opponents as the Dragons discovered to their cost!
It was slightly better news for another side in managerial transition, Kidderminster Harriers, who picked up a useful point from a 1-1 draw at Barrow AFC but remain a point adrift at the foot of the table.
FC Halifax Town are just above Harriers, and they too are in the market for a new manager. But caretaker Gareth McClelland was unable to find a first win since August 31st as they were beaten 2-0 at Park View Road by Welling United.
Torquay United lost by the same scoreline at Lincoln City and will now be hoping their new boss, club legend Kevin Nicholson (pictured above), will be able to halt a slide which has seen no wins in the last ten games for the Gulls.
