THE Mariners have signed Barnet forward Ben Tomlinson on a one month loan.
Ben started his career with Worksop Town before his impressive form won him a move into League football with Macclesfield Town in 2008. Moves to Alfreton Town and Lincoln City would follow and both clubs Ben would continue to be a forward that could find the back of the net on a consistent basis. He joined the Bees this summer from Lincoln City this summer.
Town boss Paul Hurst was delighted to add to his attacking options. He said: "We've obviously been looking for another striker. Whilst he isn't perhaps the out and out target man that I said I was looking for, he is a nuisance, he does put himself about.
"He is obviously someone who will be known to the Grimsby Town fans and knows this league, from his time at our local rivals. "I've known him from before then and I think he will give us something slightly different to what we've got in the three lads at the club.
"He can play in different positions, and if we went to a front three, he would have no problems fitting in one of those wider areas. Realistically, if you asked him, he would say that he is a striker. Really that's why I've brought him in," Paul added.
Ben is set to go straight into the squad to face Tranmere Rovers on Friday night.
