ANDY Warrington was the star of the show, as a young Grimsby Town Reserves snatched a point against local rivals, Scunthorpe United.
A team consisting of Chris Doig, Andy Warrington & youth team players put in a spirited performance to secure a 1-1 draw. A last minute goal from Sawyer following some fantastic play from Lofts was enough to secure a draw for the Mariners.
Scunthorpe were consistent with their goal threats, with a number of goals being chalked off for offside. In the 31st minute, Laird was close to getting on the score sheet, as he hit the post from 2 yards out.
In the 34th minute, Dyche managed to break the deadlock after he found himself one on one with the Warrington, before hammering the ball past the keeper. The score could have easily doubled, however Warrington pulled of a magnificent save from a 10 yard volley.
It was not Warrington's only save. Scunthorpe had chance after chance to increase their lead, only to be stopped by the experienced keeper.
In the closing stages of the game, Charlie Lofts' work-rate paid off, ensuring the ball stayed in play on the right touchline. The young attacker then progressed with the ball before delivering the ball into the path of Sawyer, who placed the ball in the back of the net to make the score 1-1.
