North East Lincolnshire Council are set to make a decision on the preferred site of the new Grimsby Town Community Stadium on August 31st.
This comes after documents released today by NELC recommended that Cabinet approve Peaks Parkway as 'the reference site for the community stadium'.
Town director and Majority Shareholder, John Fenty said: “We are really pleased that the Council have finished their consideration of the six shortlisted sites and are in receipt of the report prepared by independent consultants.
"Whilst the delays in doing this work have been frustrating we understand that the Council has to go through various processes of rigour, to ensure that it is making the correct decision and therefore minimising the potential for a challenge and delays in the future.
"The Cabinet will make its decision on the 31st of August and whilst not wanting to pre-empt the outcome, it is difficult to believe that any site other than Peaks Parkway would be selected as the reference site for the new Community Stadium.
"In any case the club will respect the outcome of the decision and will work proactively to deliver its relocation into a new Community Stadium at the earliest opportunity”.
