Heywood To Take Charge Of Opener - Referee Watch

3 August 2016

Referee Watch is back, Andy Phillips is back to look at the match officials this season.

WEST Yorkshire official Mark Heywood will be the man in the middle for Town's first game in the Football League in six years against Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Mr Heywood was a regular across all three divisions of the EFL last season and will be beginning his sixth season at this level over the weekend.

However, despite his surroundings being at EFL level for the past several years, Heywood isn't a total stranger to Blundell Park, having taken charge of the FA Trophy semi-final second leg victory over Bognor Regis Town last season.

The West Yorkshire official handed out 91 yellow cards and seven reds in his 27 league games last season, showing that he certainly isn't afraid to get cards out of his pocket when he deems it necessary.

Heywood will be assisted by David Plowright and Nigel Smith, whilst Robert Atkin will be the Fourth Official.
