A young Reserves side were beaten 2-0 by Doncaster Rovers this afternoon.
The visitors took the lead on the stroke of time when MacKenzie bundled the ball over the line. Town thought that they had equalised when Jack Mackreth's free-kick hit the inside of the post, came back and looked to have crossed the line. Unfortunately the referee didn't agree and play continued.
And former Town defender Rob Jones' side doubled their advantage on 62 minutes when Linley's strike from just inside the box beat Andy Warrington.
An injury to defender Josh Sunter added to the Mariners' woe.
Town: Warrington, Sibbick, Sunter, Hough, Crowther, Sawyer, Mackreth, Venney, Clifton, Wright, Jennings
Subs: J. Pearson, Lawis, Keeble, Lofts, Finnegan.
Highlights of the game will be shown on Mariners PlayerHD on Wednesday evening.
