Wayne To Grace Blundell Park Once More

12 January 2016

Grimsby Town legend Wayne Burnett has agreed to come back at play in next month's Chairman's Challenge game.

Wayne wrote himself into Town folklore when he scored the winning golden goal in the 1998 Autowindscreens Shield Final at the old Wembley stadium.  He will once again grace the hallowed turf of Blundell Park.

And former Grimsby Town, Everton and Nottingham Forest striker Paul Wilkinson has also agreed to  line up in the youth fundraising game. Town fans will remember Paul's dramatic 89th-minute header past Everton keeper Neville Southall in the Mariners' Milk Cup victory at Goodison Park, over 31 years ago.

We will be confirming more GTFC legends for the game over the coming days.

The date has now been confirmed as Sunday 28th February, kick-off 2pm.
